“Lockdown 2” and Charitable Giving this Christmas

Following my message at the beginning of December about “running” during “Lockdown 2”, I am delighted to be able to confirm that with the help of the members of the congregation of St Mary’s, other friends and the matching offer of my employer, we have been able to raise the fantastic sum of £1,761. This will be split between The OASIS Centre in Gorton (940.00) and The Christie Hospital Charity (£821.00).

Last week on 16th December, I visited Victoria Armstrong at the OASIS Centre to hand over the cheques. They moved into their new Centre in October – it is wonderful and will allow them to provide a much greater range of services to support the people of Gorton. She also showed me around the new centre and told me some of the stories of 2020 which has clearly been a very difficult year for OASIS and the local community. She was extremely grateful and asked me to pass on her huge appreciation to the members of St Mary’s for their continuing support. She is also working on newsletter with more information on their amazing work so watch out for that.

On the same day I also visited The Christie Charity, again to drop off the cheques and they too were extremely grateful. 2020 has been a very difficult year for fundraising for them as so many of the events from which they would normally gain sponsorship had to be cancelled.

It is lovely to be able to report at least one positive outcome from what has been a horrible year for so many people. Thank you all once again for your fantastic support for these amazingcharities.

Keep well, keep safe and may you all be blessed this Christmas time
