Charitable Giving

I hope this message finds you healthy and COVID free! Many of you will know that over the last five or six years I have run the Manchester 10 km in aid of some local Manchester charities and I have been very fortunate that the company I work for, Hilti (Great Britain) Ltd. has matched my sponsorship donations each year. Initially, all the money raised went to the OASIS project in Gorton, with which St Mary’s has had a longstanding connection. Last year, I added The Christie Hospital and the money raised was divided between these two charities. With your kind donations, this has generated over £8,000 of support for these wonderful organisations.

This year there has been no Manchester 10 km and lots of other fund-raising events have also been cancelled meaning many charities have lost significant income through reduced charitable giving. Not to be outdone, during “Lockdown 2” in November, I took up running again and I was joined by my daughter Katherine. We decided to see how far we could run and between us we completed more than 170 km during the month; a distance of more than 4 marathons and would have got us to Abersoch or Durham!

When I reflected on such a feat, I wondered if we might once again be able to raise some money for these two great charities. Hilti have kindly agreed to match-fund me again so if you, your family or friends would like to sponsor us for our “Lockdown 170”, your donation would be matched 1:1 and the money split between the OASIS Project in Gorton and the Christie Hospital in Manchester.

In order to get the match funding, donations need to have been received by Sunday 13th December – you can donate in either the following ways:

1) Via our Just Giving page which offers the choice to donate to your preferred charity – the link is: https://www.justgiving.com/team/Reynolds (see instructions on next page for further details)

2) By cash or cheque.

If you would like to Gift Aid your cash / cheque, please include the following information (or complete and include the tear-off slip below)
With great thanks and wishing you all a safe and Happy Christmas
