Following on from the Rector’s comments on the finances of St Mary’s, could I ask all my “envelope folk” to seriously consider paying by Standing Order. The old style envelopes were dated and encouraged people to make up for weeks when they didn’t attend. I would like to see a return to that model whereby you pay a regular amount each week. By banking order this can be by a monthly, quarterly or annual payment. If you feel at all awkward about not putting something on the collection plate, an empty green envelope will be acceptable.
